Cell Culture

This service consists of two large rooms located on the first and second floors of the building. The rooms are used for the production and maintenance of primary cultures of neurons and glial cells and organotypic cultures of brain slices, as well as human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), cell lines of human origin and organoid cultures.

The rooms are equipped with biosafety cabinets appropriate to the cell type and the experimentation carried out in each of them, and phase-contrast and fluorescent microscopes to monitor living cells, preventing the need for leaving the room. In addition, the rooms have centrifuges and ultra-centrifuges, C02 incubators, refrigerators and ultra-freezers. In order to work in conditions of high-level P2 biological safety, the rooms are equipped with the necessary sterilization and biocontainment equipment. Synthetic compounds obtained in the IQM and IQOG laboratories will facilitate innovative experiments in Biological Chemistry to understand and manipulate biological systems with molecular precision. Thus, for example, it will be possible to study bio-orthogonal reactions carried out in vivo without interference in biological processes, which could generate new therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
