The main objective of this service is the manufacture and fine-tuning of custom-made scientific equipment to facilitate research work via the design, development and production of the tools for the centres served by the Ci2A.

A comprehensive service is offered to researchers for the manufacture of this scientific equipment, from the CAD design of the mechanical parts, its 3D printing, assembly, the design and fine-tuning of its electronic control, the connection with computers or digital media for its regulation, and where appropriate, the reading and recording of data. These devices are focused on improving or solving the experimental approach problems of the researchers on specific demand, favouring the development of prototypes. This service is able to generate added value by developing, patenting and exploiting unique technological solutions on the market. The service promotes alliances with similar departments in advanced institutions such as the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Janelia Research Campus or the Champalimaud Institute in Lisbon.
