The Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinares de Alcalá (Interdisciplinary Research Centre of Alcalá), or Ci2A, is a public centre launched on January 20, 2021 by the previous CSIC president, Dr. Rosa Menéndez. Ci2A is a dedicated Service Centre for the CSIC, devoted to provide services for the most prestigious Spanish research centres specializing in the field of Neuroscience and Chemical sciences, such as the Cajal Institute (IC), the Cajal International Neuroscience Center (CINC), the Institute of General Organic Chemistry (IQOG) and the Institute of Medicinal Chemistry (IQM). Furthermore, the Ci2A also provides services for scientific researchers at the University of Alcalá de Henares (UAH).

The Ci2A is located next to the Faculty of Medicine of the UAH in Alcalá de Henares. It provides services to both the IC and the CINC, which are housed in its facilities. The IQOG and IQM centres will be located in new headquarters under construction on the land adjacent to the Ci2A. The aim is to generate a space for scientific-technical research at the frontier of knowledge, in order to put all scientific potential at the service of researchers and business development.

For this reason, among the functions of the Ci2A is the start-up and maintenance of the new facilities located on the Campus of the University of Alcalá (Avenida de León 1, 28804, Alcalá de Henares). In addition, the Ci2A is in charge of the planning, coordination, and project management for the future transfer of the four institutes to the site. 

Due to the prominent positioning of the Ci2A research lines, its research team, and its new infrastructures, it has become the largest centre of its kind for services in the field of neurosciences and chemical sciences, being unique in Spain.
